The village of Trout Lake is at the north end of the lake by the same name. Like most Kootenay Lake Valley towns, Trout Lake and nearby Ferguson trace their history to the mining or logging heydays many years ago. Ask and ye shall find pockets of old growth forests. Keep an eye out and yur camera ready for wildlife such as Bald Eagles, Black Bears and the occasional Grizzly Bear. Snowmobile die-hards have favoured Trout Lake for years for relatively remote access to some world-class sledding.
